Changes in the fast lane system at Walt Disney World
As of July 24, Walt Disney World introduced significant changes to its planning services, including the introduction of new names for Lightning Lane passes. These changes are designed to make it easier for guests to plan ahead and enhance their theme park experience.
New Names for Lightning Lane Services
Lightning Lane Multi Pass
The service formerly known as Disney Genie+ will be renamed the Lightning Lane Multi Pass. This pass will allow guests to make up to 3 Lightning Lane selections at a theme park prior to their visit. In addition, they will be able to choose available times when making their selections. On the day of their visit, after using a selection, they will be able to check availability on the My Disney Experience app to make an additional selection.
Lightning Lane Single Pass
The Lightning Lane Single Pass will now be called the Lightning Lane Single Pass. It will function similarly to how it does today, allowing guests to secure a time slot for one of the most in-demand attractions. The main difference is that they will now be able to purchase and plan ahead.
Benefits of the New Lightning Lane Passes
Advance Planning
Guests staying at a Disney Resort hotel and other select hotels, such as Shades of Green Resort and Walt Disney World Swan and Dolphin Hotels, may plan their Lightning Lane Passes up to 7 days in advance of their stay, for a maximum of 14 days. Other guests will be able to plan up to 3 days in advance. This will allow them to secure some of their preferred attractions and experiences after they have decided on their dining reservations and other plans.
Flexibility and Comfort
The My Disney Experience app will be updated to make it easier to purchase and plan for Lightning Lane passes with fewer steps and a new option to purchase both types of passes in a single transaction. The new Lightning Lane passes will combine features from current services and the FastPass+ service previously offered, giving guests the option to plan ahead and eliminating the need to plan during their vacation.
How Lightning Lane Passes Will Work
Lightning Lane Multi Pass
- Allows up to 3 Lightning Lane selections per theme park prior to the visit.
- Guests can choose available times when making their selections.
- On the day of the visit, after using one selection, they can make an additional selection in the My Disney Experience app.
Lightning Lane Single Pass
- It allows to secure a schedule for a highly demanded attraction.
- Advance purchase and planning available.
Advance Purchase Windows
For Disney Hotel Guests
- You can plan up to 7 days before your stay, for a maximum of 14 days.
For Other Guests
- They can plan up to 3 days in advance.
Application Enhancements
Ancillary features of the Disney Genie service will continue to be available on the My Disney Experience and Disneyland apps. Both apps have received enhancements for ease of use, including making dining reservations and mobile dining orders.
