Russian mountain of Monsters, Inc.This is what the adventure of the doors will be like
Disney is building a suspended rollercoaster inspired by one of the most unforgettable scenes from Monsters, Inc. Find out about its vertical elevator, what the experience will be like, and what we really know about the opening.
What will the new attraction at Monsters, Inc. be like?
The Monsters, Inc. doors scene will move from the screen to Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Remember the moment when Sulley, Mike and Boo They move at full speed between thousands of doors hung on rails. That sequence is the inspiration for a new experience that will take visitors through the immense vault of the factory.
Disney announced that it will be the first suspended rollercoaster in a Disney park. Instead of simply watching the movement of the doors, passengers will travel in vehicles designed to integrate with that action.
The project was announced at D23 2024 and Disney presented new technical details at SXSW 2025. The focus of this guide is the roller coaster; to learn about the restaurants, shows, and streets of the new area, visit our Complete guide to Monstropolis.

A vertical elevator that will recreate the vault of the doors
One of the highlights will be the ascent: the vehicles will be lifted before entering the tour.
Disney Imagineering confirmed that the roller coaster will have a vertical lifting system designed to reproduce the mechanical arms that move the doors in the film.
The announcement should not be confused with a free fall: What is confirmed is the vertical ascent. The final speed, the length of the route or the minimum height are also not yet known.
This is how the experience unfolds, step by step
Disney revealed the general idea and the mechanism of ascension, but has not yet presented a complete roadmap or all of its effects. This is what can be described without inventing details.
Entering the factory
The adventure will take visitors to the world of Monsters, Inc., where the doors connect to the human world.
Climbing between doors
The vehicle will use the vertical elevator announced by Disney, inspired by the mechanical claws from the film.
Traveling suspended
The roller coaster will seek to recreate the door-to-door chase through moving suspended vehicles.
The first roller coaster suspended from a Disney park
The inspiration is not another film or an existing attraction: it is the mythical vault sequence. Disney seeks to turn that moment into a physical adventure, with an elevator technology that is part of the story itself.
The combination of themed design, suspended vehicles and vertical elevation is what distinguishes the project. Speed, intensity and restriction data remain pending.
